These baked sweet and sour beef meatballs, is made with ground beef can be either pan fried or baked. The sweet and sour sauce is prepared separately. You can also use a combination of ground beef and pork if desired. The best thing about this dish is that I can cook it anytime in our kitchen and the ingredients can be found in most local groceries store.
Prep Time: 20 minutes Cook Time: 15 minutes Total Time: 35 minutes
Ingredients for Meatballs:
2 pounds ground beef
1 tbsp dried oregano
1 tbsp dried basil
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp ground black pepper
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 large egg
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions:
Making a Meatballs: 1. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients for the meatballs and mix using your hands just until combine. 2. Using your hands break off 2 tablespoon of the meat mixture and roll it into a ball. 3. Arrange the meatballs in a single layer in the baking pan. 4. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees Celsius (320 Fahrenheit) 5. Grease the baking pan with cooking spray oil. 6. Bake the meatballs for 15mins or until they are through. To make sweet and sour sauce: 1. In a measuring cup mix the banana ketchup, sugar and white rice vinegar stir well and set aside. 2. In a wok or pan, over medium heat add olive oil, saute the garlic, ginger and carrot for 2 minutes and pour the mixture sauce bring to boil and cook until the sauce is thick enough. Season with salt,and ground black pepper. 3. Add onion, green bell pepper. Mix it well. 4. Lastly add the meatballs and cook it for 2 minutes and ready to served.
Note: We served it with steamed white rice.
