Samosa

Samosa is famous street food in India and is totally loved by all age groups. Normally samosa is a deep-fried savory pastry cone filled with spicy with potato filling. But as always if you are health conscious you can bake it too. Samosa is made with different stuffings like cottage cheese, noodles, lentils, cashew nut and of course with meat. It is super easy to make at home and believe me the homemade ones.

Prep Time: 45 Cook Time: 7 mins Total Time: 52 mins

Ingredients:

FILLING

4 small potatoes

1 red onion

1 carrot

50 grams peas

1 tsp ginger/garlic paste

1 tbsp fresh coriander (cilantro)

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 tsp garam masala

1 tbsp red chilli flakes

50 grams butter or ghee

30 pcs pastry sheets

Instructions:

Filling: 1. In a dry frying pan on medium heat, lightly toast the cumin seeds and half of the garam masala for about 2 minutes. Add ghee and when it has melted add the onion. After 2 minutes, add the ginger garlic paste - stir it all together and cook for about 5 minutes until the onion is translucent.

2. Add the contents of the frying pan, the mash potato, drained peas and finely chopped coriander, and the rest of the garam masala. Stir well and set aside.

3. Place one tablespoon of stuffing in the pastry sheet then fold and seal the outer edges by applying some water. Repeat the process.

4. Heat a pan that is half-full of an oil on medium heat.

5. When the oil is hot, carefully add enough samosas to form a single layer don't crowd the pan they won't cook evenly. 6. Fry for about 5 minutes until the samosas are golden. Drain on paper towel and when the oil is hot again, fry the next batch.

Note:

Samosas can be eaten hot or cold they're delicious and more-ish either way.
